Fundraising/Donations

Barb's Race has raised $213,000 for the Vineman Cancer Charities through entry fees and donations. We are now inviting and encouraging athletes in all of our races to raise funds in order to support our Vineman Cancer Charities. Past donations have been made to cancer research, cancer support organizations, and most recently to help develop the Sutter Breast Care Center, which assists and supports women through their journey with breast cancer. In 2008 we will once again be donating to the Sutter Breast Care Center.

Along with individual donations and athlete fundraising, half of the entry fees of those entering Barb's Race - individuals and relay teams - will be contributed to this cause as well as to other cancer charities. We're asking you to help us do more and we're offering you an incentive - racers who raise $1000 or more qualify for a pair of Avia shoes.

If you would like to help, here's what you do:

  • Print an "Pledge" Form from either of these links: Microsoft Excel Format OR Adobe Acrobat Format
  • Ask everyone you know (and don't!) for donations. (Here's a Sample Letter you can use)
  • Have your donors make checks payable to "Vineman Cancer Charities."
  • Record the name, contact info and amount of each donation on the pledge form.
  • Collect all of your donations prior to registration for Barb's Race and the Full Vineman (08/01/08) and complete the form including the total of your donations.
  • Bring your donations and completed pledge form to the Barb's Race Booth on Race Registration Day, Friday, August 1, 2008. (Half Vineman fundraisers can turn theirs in at the Info Booth at the Half Vineman Expo on Saturday before the race.)

The Vineman Cancer Charities is committed to supporting cancer organizations in our community. Money is raised through entry fees to Barb's Race, contributions made by athletes participating in our other Vineman events and through athlete fund-raising. Friends, families and supporters can also make donations directly to the Vineman Cancer Charities. If you would like to make a donation, here's what you do:
