Important Details

The Following IMPORTANT Items Pertain to the Vineman Showdown:

1. There will be no advanced packet pick up. You must pick up your race number and materials on race day at McNears Beach. Registration closes one hour before the first wave starts.

2. There is no required bike check for the Vineman Showdown at Sundown. If you need assistance with your bike while in the area we recommend 3 Ring Cycles in San Rafael, located at 1925 Francisco Blvd in San Rafael. (415) 259-5704.

3. Bring your valid USA Triathlon license and picture ID to race number pick-up. If you do not have your valid USA Triathlon card with you, you will be required to purchase a one-day license at the event.

4. Attend the pre-race meeting the day of the race. Valuable information regarding the event will be presented at this meeting and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the event.

5. Go over the race course before the race. It is the responsibility of each athlete to know the race course and any potential hazards which may exist on it.

6. Start with your assigned wave and rack your bike in your assigned rack. If you fail to do either of these you will be penalized or disqualified.

7. Wetsuits will be allowed if the water temperature is below 78 degrees Fahrenheit, in accordance with USAT rules. The water temperature is expected to be between 60 and 70 degrees.

7. Make sure that you properly wear your race numbers and timing chip. You will receive two sticker numbers at packet pick-up. One of these goes on the top tube of your bike and the other goes on the front of your bike helmet. The bib number must be worn on the front of your body during the entire run portion of the event.

8. Use the portable toilets and McNears Beach Park bathrooms that are available at the race sites and on the race course to relieve yourself. You will be disqualified if you are seen relieving yourself on the ground.

9. The roads are open to traffic. Ride on the right hand side of the road unless instructed otherwise by a police officer of a race official. Please discourage your friends and family members from driving on the race course while the race is in progress.

10. PARKING: There is a large amount of parking at McNears Beach Park. Once this lot has filled there will be parking available 1/3 mile south of the park at McNears Brick & Block. If you park here you will need to walk or ride your bike to the race site as there will NOT be shuttles. Do not park on the race course or in private parking lots or your car may be towed. Follow all directions from our parking monitors.

11. NO DOGS OR PETS OF ANY KIND. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE PARK IF YOU HAVE A FURRY FRIEND IN TOW . . . IT'S A PARK RULE! Exceptions for registered eye-seeing dogs or other registered canine companion fury friends. Park Rangers will enforce McNears Beach Park rules. Thank you!

12. Please help our volunteers keep the countryside clean and the residents of the area happy by discarding rubbish properly.

13. You must be present at the award ceremony to accept awards. They will not be mailed out!

14. The race results will be posted on this web site as soon they are available after the race.
